God, Rainbows, and Light

I want to talk about rainbows.  But first, I'm gonna talk about our eyes.  So we all have rods and cones in our eyes - receptors that pick up light.  And the cones detect color by absorbing different wavelengths of light.  There are 3 types of cones: ones that absorb red, green, and blue.  But when we look out at the world, we don't just see red, green, and blue because our brains take the information of the concentrations and variations in these wavelengths and show us rainbows.

For me, rainbows are my 1 piece of evidence for the existence of God.  Because I have a hard time believing that something so beautiful and magnificent could occur merely by chance.  And rainbows are everywhere.  My favorite hobby is wearing my glasses and using the edge of the lens to refract the light surrounding objects; and to see the array of colors refracted from a fluorescent bulb.  When I see these rainbows, it feels like a sign from the universe, or consciousness, or God, or whatever you want to call the Great Unknown that exists beyond us.  I see it in rainbows, but maybe you see it in stars, or the heat of the sun, or in the constant miracle of our very ability to even consider these things.

Hold onto that miracle.  Because I can see God in the reflection of light off your eyes.  I can see God in rainbows.
